The Posterior Cervical Laminoplasty System includes seven types of implants — open door plate, graft plate, lateral hole plate (O type), wide mouth plate (standard hole), wide mouth plate (lateral hole), hinge plate, and bone screws. Each plate type is available in six sizes from 8mm to 18mm. The Cervical Laminoplasty System is designed for both open-door and French-door techniques. This Spinal Fixation Plate system provides the surgeon with multiple options for stabilizing the opened lamina. The Posterior Cervical Plate is part of the complete system for posterior cervical decompression.

Do you know what is Posterior Cervical Laminoplasty System ?

The Posterior Cervical Laminoplasty System is used to treat spinal cord compression in the cervical spine. This Cervical Laminoplasty System is indicated for patients with cervical spinal stenosis, myelopathy, or other conditions that cause narrowing of the spinal canal in the neck. The Spinal Fixation Plate is used to hold the opened lamina in position after the decompression.

The laminoplasty procedure involves cutting the lamina and opening it like a door. This creates more space for the spinal cord. The Posterior Cervical Plate is then secured to keep the lamina in the new position. The system helps maintain the increased canal space during healing.

System Components

Open Door Plate – Available in 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, and 18mm lengths. This Cervical Laminoplasty System includes the open door plate for the open-door laminoplasty technique.

Wide Mouth Plate, Standard Hole – Available in 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, and 18mm lengths. The Spinal Fixation Plate includes the standard hole wide mouth plate for stable fixation.

Graft Plate – Available in 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, and 18mm lengths. This Posterior Cervical Plate is used when bone graft is placed in the opened space.

Lateral Hole Plate, In O – Available in 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, and 18mm lengths. The Cervical Laminoplasty System includes the O-shaped lateral hole plate for open-door technique stabilization.

Wide Mouth Plate, Lateral Hole – Available in 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, and 18mm lengths. This Spinal Fixation Plate is designed for the lateral hole placement with a wide mouth design.

Hinge Plate – Available in 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, and 18mm lengths. The Posterior Cervical Plate includes hinge plates for the opposite side of the laminoplasty.

Bone Screw – Available in 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, and 18mm lengths. The Cervical Laminoplasty System includes screws for plate fixation.

Key Features

Titanium Alloy Construction
The implants in this Cervical Laminoplasty System are made from medical-grade titanium alloy. Titanium is strong and lightweight. It is biocompatible and does not cause allergic reactions. The Posterior Cervical Plate is safe for long-term implantation.

Multiple Plate Options
The system includes open door plates, wide mouth plates (standard hole and lateral hole), graft plates, lateral hole plates, and hinge plates. Each Spinal Fixation Plate is designed for a specific laminoplasty technique. This gives the surgeon flexibility to choose the right implant for each patient.

Various Lengths Available
All plates come in six lengths — 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, and 18mm. The Cervical Laminoplasty System supports different patient anatomies.

Screw Size Options
The system includes bone screws in six lengths — 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 16mm, and 18mm. The Spinal Fixation Plate is secured with screws that are appropriate for the bone quality and anatomy.

Low Profile Design
The plates are designed to sit flat against the lamina. The low profile reduces soft tissue irritation. This Posterior Cervical Plate is thin enough to minimize prominence under the skin.

Application

The Posterior Cervical Laminoplasty System is used for:

  • Cervical spinal stenosis with myelopathy

  • Multilevel cervical spondylosis

  • Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL)

  • Cervical cord compression without instability

  • Conditions requiring posterior decompression of the spinal cord

The Cervical Laminoplasty System is indicated for patients with spinal cord compression affecting multiple levels of the cervical spine. The Spinal Fixation Plate is used to maintain the increased canal space after the laminoplasty procedure.

Surgical Technique

The procedure involves positioning the patient prone on the operating table. The surgeon makes a midline incision in the back of the neck. The lamina is exposed on both sides. In the open-door technique, one side is cut through and the other side is left as a hinge. The lamina is opened like a door to create more space for the spinal cord. The Posterior Cervical Plate is then applied to hold the lamina open.

In the French-door technique, the lamina is cut on both sides and split in the middle. The two halves are opened like double doors. This Cervical Laminoplasty System includes plates for both techniques. The Spinal Fixation Plate keeps the bone in position while the healing process takes place.

Clinical Benefits

Decompression Without Fusion
Laminoplasty preserves motion in the cervical spine. The Cervical Laminoplasty System decompresses the spinal cord without fusing the vertebrae. Patients maintain neck mobility after surgery.

Multiple Level Treatment
The Spinal Fixation Plate can be used at multiple levels. The system is designed for multilevel laminoplasty procedures. The Posterior Cervical Plate stabilizes the opened lamina at each level.

Titanium Compatibility
The implants are MRI-compatible. The Cervical Laminoplasty System allows postoperative imaging without interference. This Spinal Fixation Plate does not cause artifacts on MRI scans.

Stable Fixation
The plates and screws provide rigid fixation of the opened lamina. The Posterior Cervical Plate prevents the lamina from closing back down. The system maintains the decompression during healing.
